‘BTS’ Suga’s Concert Film Sets New Record

‘BTS’ Suga’s concert film has set a new record for the highest box office revenue worldwide.

 

The Movie ‘D-Day’

According to distributor Trifalga Releasing, the film ‘Suga | August D Tour D-Day the Movie’ (hereinafter referred to as ‘D-Day’) achieved the highest revenue among this year’s concert films worldwide.

‘D-Day’ is a film that captures the live performance of Suga’s first solo encore concert, ‘D-Day the Final’. It was released on the 10th and has earned a revenue of 10.16 million dollars (about 141 billion won) worldwide.

The distributor stated, “It is the highest-grossing concert film of the year in the United States and worldwide” and explained that it is also the “highest-grossing film by a K-pop solo artist.”

‘D-Day’ was screened in more than 100 regions and in over 3,500 cinemas. It earned 9.61 million dollars (about 1.3 billion won) in North America on the opening day, ranking second in the box office.

The cumulative revenue in North America is 2.3 million dollars (about 320 million won). It also showed strong sales in Mexico (2.58 million dollars), Brazil (612,000 dollars), and Germany (402,000 dollars).

Mark Allenby, CEO of Trifalga Releasing, expressed excitement over the tremendous response to ‘D-Day’ and said it proves Suga’s artistry. He also commented that it symbolizes his power to motivate fans and represents a strong desire for cinematic experiences worldwide.

‘D-Day’ will continue its screenings until the 21st.

 

Suga’s Military Service

Last September, Suga began his mandatory military service as a conscripted police officer. On the 28th of last month, he entered Nonsan Training Center for basic military training. Afterward, he will continue his alternative service.
