Starbucks Korea started its business in 1997 as a 50:50 joint venture between Starbucks of the United States and E-Mart, a Korean company.

The U.S. Starbucks headquarters left Korea in July 2021, selling all shares of Starbucks Coffee Korea corporation to E-Mart (Korean company) and the Singapore Investment Corporation.

Therefore, domestic Starbucks has a 0% stake in its U.S. headquarters. In other words, Korean Starbucks operates independently from overseas Starbucks because it is owned by Korea and Singapore.

So, if Le Seraphim’s Huh Yun-jin drinks coffee at Starbucks Korea, there is no direct benefit to Starbucks headquarters, but simply to the independent Korean Starbucks. Therefore, “educate yourself” returns as a boomerang to the people who wrote the comment.
