🚨 Daegu Studio Attempted Rape and Murder Case: Unveiling the Tragic Events of May 13, 2023

On May 13, 2023, a harrowing crime unfolded in Bokhyeon-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu, as Lee Eun-bin, born in 1995, forcefully entered a studio,

initially attempting rape but escalating to a murderous assault on a young woman and her boyfriend.

The incident left both victims severely injured.

Circumstances of the Incident

Late in the evening on May 13, around 10:56 p.m., Mr. A (28) followed Ms. B (23), a woman in her 20s, returning home to her studio apartment in Bokhyeon-dong.

Armed with a weapon, Mr. A attempted sexual assault, inflicting severe injuries by cutting both of Ms. B’s hands and wrists.

Ms. B’s boyfriend, Mr. C (23), intervened, but Lee Eun-bin retaliated by stabbing Mr. C multiple times in the face, neck, and chest.

Fleeing the scene on a motorcycle, Lee Eun-bin was apprehended by the police around 2 am on the 14th near the Goryeong Fortress.

Investigations revealed that Eun-bin had posed as a delivery driver, specifically targeting women living alone in studio apartments.

Shockingly, search records on Eun-bin’s devices indicated a disturbing history of interest in rape-related content, including videos of illegally filmed women’s nude bodies.

Ms. B suffered a ruptured artery in her wrist, causing major nerve damage, severely limiting her mobility.

After surgery, Mr. C, diagnosed with permanent disability due to brain damage, faced a challenging and lengthy recovery.

The financial burden on the victims, especially Ms. B, amounted to approximately 23 million won (17,726$) in hospital bills.

Legal Proceedings and Trial

On June 12, 2023, Lee Eun-bin was indicted by the Daegu District Prosecutors’ Office Criminal Division 2.

The subsequent trial, labeled as Daegu District Court 2023 in Criminal Division 11, led to a shocking verdict on November 30, 2023.

Chief Judge Jong-gil Lee sentenced Lee Eun-bin to an unprecedented 50 years in prison, surpassing the prosecution’s requested 30 years.

This marked the highest-ever sentence for indefinite imprisonment, imposing additional restrictions on employment and electronic location tracking.
